Almond flour stays broadly findable this week. The blocker for a fixed-income kitchen is cost, not availability.

Farm-gate almond prices have climbed back from roughly $1.40 a pound at the 2022 trough to about $2.14 a pound in 2024. We use the farm-gate figure because that is the one actually surveyed. Finished almond-flour shelf prices vary too much by brand and bag to pin to a single honest number. There is no active recall to report on almond flour. Nothing is breaking here, just the current state.

The move when the cost does not work is the same one the allergic cook already makes: switch the base. Oat and seed bases cover much of what almond flour was doing, often at lower cost. The full comparison lives in the almond flour alternatives ranked, oxalate-aware post rather than being restated here.

The loaf to keep regardless is the oat-based no-flour bread, built without almond flour entirely. Our Cook mode walkthrough carries the recipe step by step on a screen that does not dim mid-bake.

A planning note for the month ahead. Almond flour stores best in the freezer once opened. If you find it at a price that works, buy ahead and freeze the surplus. That smooths out the price swings instead of leaving you exposed to whatever the shelf costs the week you bake. For a kitchen that has moved off almond flour entirely, on cost or on allergy, none of this is a worry. That is rather the point of keeping an oat or seed base in the rotation.

The full picture across both nodes and across geographies sits in the ingredient availability deep read from earlier this month. The mid-month psyllium snapshot covers the other half. Into next month the durable advice is unchanged: the substitution charts, not the shop links, are the part that travels.
